Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How do I apply for the EMTTLF?
To apply for this Master Program please, read carefully "Eligibility & Selection Criteria" & "Applications" section and then you must complete your on-line application.

How much is the tuition fee?

The tuition fee for a full two year programme is
3,500 €/semester (14,000 for the whole program) if you are a national of any EU member State or EEA-EFTA States (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway). If you have any other citizenship the applicable fee is 4,000 €/semester (16,000 € for the whole program).

I am European Citizen, can I apply for this Masters Programme?
Yes, the EMTTLF welcomes applicants from all nationalities including, of course, European countries. Besides, EU nationals and EEA-EFTA nationals (Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein) may apply for a Erasmus Mundus Category B scholarship.

I am a so-called "third country citizen" but I have carried out my main activity in an EU country for more than a total of 12 months over the last 5 years, can I apply for an Erasmus Mundus Category A scholarship?
No, but you can apply for an Erasmus Mundus Category B scholarship.

I have studied with English as a medium of instruction, do I still have to take IELTS or TOEFL?
Previous experience with English as medium of instruction is not sufficient documentation. As a general rule, an Academic IELTS test with an overall score of at least 6.5 or a TOEFL test with a score of 580 (check the equivalence for the computerised test and the internet-based test) is mandatory. Note, that the ILF requires TOEFL test results 600. However, nationals of countries which official language is English (including the USA) are exempted of this requirement. Besides, university degrees (only Bachelor or equivalent undergraduate studies of at least 180 ECTS) obtained in a country where English is the official language by applicants for whom English is not the first language may be accepted instead of the approved IELTS/TOEFL score. Please, note that:
- a certificate issued by one university where the applicant may have spent one academic year in the framework of the Erasmus mobility program or similar will not exempt the applicant from the IELTS/TOEFL requirement;
- university postgraduate studies such as a Master Degree obtained in a country where English is the official language by applicants for whom English is not the first language will not exempt the applicant from the IELTS/TOEFL requirement;
- university undergraduate degrees (such as a Bachelor's Degree) obtained in a country where English is NOT the official language but it is the usual language in university studies by applicants for whom English is not the first language will not exempt the applicant from the IELTS/TOEFL requirement.

Can I apply for the programme without my IELTS or TOEFL score?
Except for the aforementioned situations (see the precedent question/answer), you will need to sit for an IELTS or a TOEFL test as proof of your English language proficiency. You need to wait until you have received the final score of your IELTS/TOEFL exam and then complete the Application form on line including an electronic copy (in .jgp or .pdf format) of the results.

What certification do I get after completing the EMTTLF program?
On completion of this program you will receive a joint degree issued by two universities, depending on the mobility path.

If you follow the Deusto-Tilburg-ILF (Frankfurt) option:
  • European Master in Transnational Trade Law and Finance, LLM (joint degree issued by the University of Deusto and Frankfurt University).
